Community Guidelines & Content Moderation

Be a decent human in any language. Don't harass people, don't send illegal content, don't scam anyone, and don't share things that aren't yours to share.

• Child safety — any sexualisation of minors is banned outright and reported to the relevant authorities. Accounts are removed permanently.
• Harassment and bullying — targeted abuse, threats, stalking, hateful slurs, or coordinated pile-ons.
• Violence and extremism — threats of violence, glorification of terrorism, or content from violent extremist organisations.
• Hate speech — attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, gender identity or sexual orientation.
• Sexual content without consent — intimate images shared without consent, sextortion, or unsolicited explicit media.
• Scams and spam — phishing, fake investment or crypto offers, romance scams, mass unsolicited messaging.
• Self-harm — encouraging suicide, self-injury or eating disorders. We surface support resources instead.
• Illegal goods — drugs, weapons, stolen data or counterfeits.
• Impersonation — pretending to be another person, brand or official body.

• Block a user to stop all messages from them.
• Report a message, chat, group or story directly from the app.
• Turn on 'Hidden from Discover' in You → settings so you no longer appear to nearby or new people.
• Choose who reaches you: people can still find you via your username or LOOP QR code, which you control and can regenerate.
• Leave any group chat at any time; group members are always visible to you.
• Mute categories of notification, or set quiet hours, in You → Notifications.

LOOP is a private messaging service — we do not proactively read your one-to-one conversations. Moderation is report-driven: when you report something, the reported messages and the immediate surrounding context are made available to our review team, alongside an English translation so reports can be reviewed consistently in any language.

• Automated checks scan for known illegal imagery and obvious spam patterns on media and public-facing content such as stories and profiles.
• Human reviewers assess reported content against these guidelines, taking cultural and linguistic context into account.
• Reported child sexual abuse material is preserved and reported to law enforcement and relevant hotlines.

• We aim to acknowledge reports within 24 hours and resolve them within 7 days.
• Depending on severity we may remove content, limit an account's ability to message new people, suspend, or permanently ban.
• First-time minor breaches usually get a warning; severe breaches result in immediate removal.
• The reporter is told the outcome at a high level; we don't share private details about other users.

If your account or content was actioned and you believe it was a mistake, email appeals@talkonloop.com from your account address within 30 days. A different reviewer will look at the case and we'll respond with a final decision.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. For urgent safety issues on LOOP, email safety@talkonloop.com with the username and a description — these are prioritised ahead of the normal queue.

Meaning can shift between languages. Tone, slang and humour don't always survive machine translation, so we take intent and context into account when reviewing reports — and we ask you to give people the benefit of the doubt before reporting.
